Aquamarine, the stone of the month of March.
The name Aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua marinus , meaning "sea water," and refers to its bright, ocean-like color. The clear, pale blue crystal is a member of the Beryl family. Its color, sometimes blue-green, is caused by iron oxides within the stone's chemical composition.
Aquamarine embodies all things related to the sea, as well as things related to Heaven reflected on the surface of the water. In mythology, it was believed that Aquamarine could calm the fury of Neptune or Poseidon, the God of the Sea. For this reason, sailors had the custom of throwing amulets made of this precious stone to calm the fury of these angry gods.
The different varieties of aquamarine are extracted from Brazil and Russia, where the most appreciated specimens have been found, but deposits are also found in Africa, the United States, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, India, Tanzania, Malawi and Kenya.
Properties
Aquamarine is a stone of the Water element, powerful for clearing the emotional body and opening communication. Its gentle energy brings emotional patterns to the surface and helps one understand the reason for holding on to old thoughts or patterns that limit progress. It also identifies where the ego is causing one to overreact, take on a victim/abuser role, manipulate others, or beat themselves up. By consciously releasing these patterns, it allows for better relationships, love, and compassion.
Aquamarine helps balance excessive anger or fear. It can also help remove emotional, physical or verbal abuse from the past.
It is helpful in moving through transition and change. Its cleansing energy removes resistance and helps you overcome fear of the unknown. It helps not only release emotional baggage, but also clear physical items and clutter.
It emits a kind and compassionate energy, promoting moderation and responsibility in your actions. It inspires critical people to be more tolerant and helps those who are overwhelmed by responsibility to find order.
It is the stone of justice, compromise and negotiations. It gives courage and tranquility and helps you to carefully select words in confrontational situations. Pass an aquamarine over any written complaint you receive or before sending one. We also recommend carrying one when visiting places for a complaint or when resolving neighborhood disputes.
Aquamarine is often given as a token of love or an eternity ring, and increases commitment and fidelity "as long as the waters of the earth flow."
It is perhaps the strongest stone for clearing and activating the throat chakra. It stimulates the energy from the heart to the throat, allowing the deepest and most heartfelt truth to be communicated.
The Throat Chakra is the voice of the body, a pressure valve that allows the energy of the other chakras to be expressed. If it is blocked or unbalanced, it can affect the health of the other chakras.
